Overview
Engage NBD at the start of your new project or logistics planning cycle. Short notice high demand requests will require additional time to plan and design a service and to secure resources.
NBD plays a vital role in acquiring and retaining new business. The NBD process is designed to expedite customer on-boarding efficiently and to project- manage service offerings to full implementation.
1. Role & Responsibilities
New service requests or “greenfield” projects will be serviced and facilitated by NBD . The New Business Development team are part of the Commercial department in Transnet Freight Rail and is the single point of contact for new customers. New Customers are brought on board by a team of specialists who will assess the customer’s needs and facilitate the process to design a service offering to meet requirements.
2. Business Rules & Opportunities
New Customers will be required to provide confirmation of stock piles, availability and capacity at loading and off-loading sites to ascertain readiness for rail service. NBD will collaborate with TFR Real Estate Management to assist new customers with access to rail infrastructure. The objective is to optimise utilisation of all TFR assets through the establishment of Common User Facilities and Hubs.
